Collaborate for a Cause 2012
Collaborate for a cause is on this weekend! A bunch of facebook pages who sell handmade items collaborate with other pages and make things to be sold by auction. All the proceeds go to a charity of the collaborating partners choice. There are hundreds of collaborations this year, it's very exciting! I was very lucky to be working with Yumminess Textiles and One Sixteenth Designs this year and we decided to go with a vintage birthday theme. here's what we came up with...
all the proceeds from the sale of these items will be donated to Bowel Cancer Australia.
this stunning set (size 2) was made by Yumminess Textiles:
birthday invitations and bunting by One Sixteenth Designs:
and my contribution was this topsy turvy tiny tot doll:
she's a sleeping baby on one side and a little girl on the other! we had so much fun putting these items together. if you're on facebook please check out the Collaborate for a cause page and have a look at all the entries.

a personal project
the kids and i recently gave our p&t 'dash' pram a good wash. we stripped it down until we were left with the seat and frame and gave all the pieces we took off a hot soapy bath. the rest was hosed down outside. i replaced the sun damaged hood with a brand new one and now we have a decent looking pram again. i can't believe i managed to get all the bits and pieces back together correctly. actually i'm not 100% sure the straps are on correctly but it's close enough! after it dried and before i folded it up and popped it back in the car i thought i'd make a pram liner for the back seat. i've been meaning to do this since we first got this pram two years ago but as usual life got in the way. i basically just made a pattern from the existing boring grey liner that was already in the seat. it's just stuck down with velcro and you can take right out. i used some heavy cotton canvas for one side and some flannelette for the reverse. i think i like the pink flannelette side best. i'll make some strap covers to match as well and eventually another liner for the main seat but in the meantime here it is...

where did my baby go?
my baby turned 2. where has the time gone? she had a lovely birthday and was quite spoilt. in the morning a little wooden doll wardrobe was waiting for her filled with presents. stu thinks i just bought the wardrobe to use as a prop but i swear i was only thinking of her (could come in handy for shop photos though).
it was very exciting as you can see...
the sweet dolly is from miss kiki of cherry blossom lane and i made her flora the dachshund necklace (pattern by wee wonderfuls)
and i made this strawberry hair clip..
cupcakes were shared later that morning with playgroup friends
and the main event was held on the weekend when all the family came around to help celebrate. do you like my party dress? looking so grown up here!
dress is by georgie girl.
i made her a dolly varden cake which turned out quite ok. it was chocolate mud cake. yummmmm. she looks pleased with it. i love marshmallows.
would you believe that i managed to pick the one doll who's legs couldn't be removed? so she went ALL in, legs included :) happy birthday my sweet baby, oops i meant big girl.

thrify find
i just have to brag about my second-hand store find today. i was at the counter paying for something else when i saw this adorable little suitcase on the counter. it had just been dropped off by someone apparently. how's that for timing!? she asked if i wanted it, ummmm yes!!!! when she opened it up to reveal another smaller identical suitcase inside i had to bite my lip to hold in the squealing. when i got them home i also discovered an Adelaide street directory from 1970 inside the smaller one. handy! the smaller one is 35cm wide. do you love them!? so cute!!

Softies for Mirabel
here are the softies i am posting off today for Softies for Mirabel...
a tiny tot, a guinea pig and a baby guinea pig. i wish i could have done more but three is better than nothing. i just noticed the baby guinea pig appears to have only one leg but rest assured there's a second leg but he's sitting on it. he didn't sit on it long so it wouldn't have gone dead or anything. looks like his mumma is about to tap him on the head and the tiny tot looks a little intimidated by the giant guinea pig she's been made to sit next to.

Many of my newest likers found my page via the garden fairy photo that i posted to the dolls and daydreams facebook page so i've also made a new fairy that will be sold on Sunday night, 5th Feb by ballot on my facebook page. These fairies are quite time consuming to make and i won't be making too many more i suspect so this is a good opportunity to get your hands on one. I haven't skimped on the details, she is really beautiful. My favourite part is her little felt strawberry red mary jane shoes.
Thank you to everyone that has supported me including all the other businesses that have given me 'shoutouts' on facebook and especially to anyone who has ever commented on my facebook page or here on my blog. It is very motivating and i really appreciate it. Of course to my customers, you're the best, love ya guts.

Kiss yer dolly
i have been making dolls a lot lately. i have been working on my own 'three kittens' doll for quite some time, actually still playing with ideas that are now years old. in the meantime however i have become addicted to the gorgeous dolls and daydreams patterns. so fun to make! here's a few i've made so far...
these ones are 'tiny tots'
and here's a baby! awwwww!
and i just finished this garden fairy today and boy was she hard work! i think it was worth it though
i like the baby the best. i want a bunch of them for myself.
